By now, you’ve likely seen multiple illustrations of distinctly styled Santas and various gnomes throughout ChristmasVille’s website, as well as throughout Old Town if you’ve already begun exploring. These whimsical creations are the work of Rock Hill’s adopted son and famed illustrator, Vernon Grant, most widely known for his three fun-loving gnomes used to market Kellogg’s Rice Krispies®. Vernon’s work encompasses much more than Snap ®, Crackle ®, and Pop® through his abundant illustrations for nationally known magazines and advertising campaigns. Vernon Grant’s artwork can be seen displayed on street poles and in art galleries within Old Town during the entire month of December. There’s even a larger-than-life mural inspired by his iconic images, as well as multiple 3D museum-quality models in storefront windows along Main Street! In 2016, ChristmasVille organizers established a tradition of re-imagining Vernon Grant People’s Choice Santa images by commissioning life-size 3D creations. This year, the 8th model will be added to the collection, and we encourage you to take a stroll along Main Street to spot these handmade treasures. You can even turn it into a fun scavenger hunt! A special thanks is extended to Showtime Theatre Company for installing these works. Grant the Gnome's […]

Old Town expands over what we like to call the “Merry Mile”. To help in your exploration of all the festivities happening throughout Old Town during ChristmasVille, jump on and off the trolleys making stops at 4 key locations along the Merry Mile, so you don’t miss a thing! Start where you like...there is a stop on Black Street behind the Fountain Park Stage by the ice rink, another in the parking lot near Dave Lyle Blvd. and White Street by the carousel. Across the tracks along White Street you’ll find two additional stops, with one being by Knowledge Perk so you can shop at the Vendor Market, and the final location being within University Center by the parking decks. Just look for the Rock Hill Ford vehicles and signage designating each trolley stop. We thank them for their sponsorship of these trolleys! Grant the Gnome’s Pro Tip: While the trolleys are a fun way to get around ChristmasVille, remember it’s only a mile from end-to-end, so it’s an easy walk too!

Airing of the Quilts originated years ago and was an annual tradition in the late spring or fall. The women would bring out all the quilts and hang them on the clotheslines, drape on the porch or any place that they could be aired out and prepped for the cold winter months ahead. That old tradition as turned into many forms of the same concept but more for show and inspiration vs the utility of winter prep. Draping the pews of a church with quilts has been a new tradition in it's own right - whether for inspiration or memorial it is always a warm hearted feel to see all the quilts that have been pieced with love displayed in such a lovely backdrop as a church. SewEndipitous is lucky to partner with The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour on Caldwell Street to bring you this activity!
